AAP Demands Resignation of Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal Following Controversial Comments on Atishi

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for the resignation of Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP, after she made critical comments about Atishi, who was recently chosen as the next Chief Minister of Delhi. AAP leader Dilip Pandey accused Maliwal of following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) agenda, despite being elected to the Rajya Sabha by AAP. He suggested that Maliwal should step down from her position as MP and try to gain a seat through the BJP instead.

This demand comes after tensions between Maliwal and AAP increased, particularly after she accused Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, of assaulting her at the Chief Minister’s house earlier in the year. These allegations had already strained her relationship with the party.

When AAP announced Atishi as Kejriwal's successor, Maliwal reacted harshly, calling it a "sad day for Delhi." She claimed that Atishi's parents had once fought to prevent the execution of Afzal Guru, a convicted terrorist. Maliwal labeled Atishi a "dummy CM" and expressed concerns about the security implications for Delhi.

Atishi, who currently serves as Delhi’s Education Minister, has not yet responded to these remarks. The situation has highlighted a growing rift between Maliwal and the AAP, which had worsened since the March incident involving Bibhav Kumar’s arrest. Kejriwal had called for a fair investigation into the accusations at the time.
