A reporter named Olivia Nuzzi, who covered Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential campaign, has been put on leave after admitting she had a personal relationship with someone she used to report on. New York Magazine, where she works, said she didn't tell them about this relationship, which goes against their rules about being open about personal interests that could affect reporting.

The magazine stated that if they had known about her relationship, she wouldn't have been allowed to cover the campaign. They reviewed her work and found no mistakes or signs of bias. However, they still regret that this situation happened and are looking into it more thoroughly.

In her statement, Nuzzi explained that while she had covered the person before, her communication with them turned personal earlier this year. She emphasized that they never had a physical relationship but should have disclosed it to avoid any appearance of conflict. She apologized to her colleagues and readers for not being upfront.

Although Nuzzi and the magazine didn't name the person involved, reports suggest it was Robert F. Kennedy Jr. His spokesperson stated that Kennedy only met Nuzzi once for an interview, which he called a "hit piece."

Nuzzi previously wrote an article about Kennedy in November 2023, exploring his complicated political views. Recently, she interviewed Trump, and that article has been updated with a note about the situation. Kennedy, who was known for his work as an environmental lawyer and his anti-vaccine stance, dropped out of the presidential race last month and announced his support for Trump.
